Upcoming Event on October 13th: What Can RRI offer S3 in their reorientation towards sustainability?

On October 13th, 2022 from 9:00-10:30 am, TetRRIS is hosting an event on “What can Responsible Research and Innovation offer Smart Specialisation Strategies in their reorientation towards sustainability?” as a side event of the European Week of Regions and Cities.

This workshop will take stock of some experiences related to promoting Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) to Smart Specialisation Strategies (S3) in their reorientation towards sustainability, and will address how RRI can be better integrated into regional innovation and development policies.

The event will feature keynote addresses by Katerina Ciampi Stancova (OECD) on ‘Closing the circle: Smart Specialisation, local development and sustainability’ and by Hannah Schmidberger (JRC) who will present on ‘Partnerships for Regional Innovation: Promoting innovation-driven territorial transformation for long-term societal wellbeing’.

The event will also feature a roundtable of experts from the advisory board and regional stakeholders from the TetRRIS project. The roundtable will be moderated by Mika Nieminen (VTT, TetRRIS Project Coordinator) and feature as panellists: Richard Tuffs (Consultant, TetRRIS Advisory member); Raluca Cibu-Buzac (Founder and CEO at Luminspino, TetRRIS Advisory member); Antti Lippo (Development manager, Tampere City Region); Jorge Muyo (General Director for Innovation, Technological Development and Industrial Entrepreneurship in the Government of Cantabria).

TetRRIS is a project which, using 4 pilot regions, is looking at how RRI and S3 can be applied and integrated into policies and practice at the regional level. This event will reference the actions being taken by the project, as well as provide a broader lens to the concepts, which may be of interest to regions or actors at the regional level interested in how to integrate RRI into their policymaking, or how to transition from S3 to Smart Specialisation Strategies for Sustainability (S4).

The event will be taking place on October 13 from 9:00 – 10:30 am in Brussels, as well as online.

The most recent agenda for the event can be found here.
