The 3rd ‘Citizen and Stakeholder Participation’ practitioner network workshop in Karlsruhe focuses on conflict solutions

The TechnologieRegion Karlsruhe held the 3rd workshop of the ‘Citizen and Stakeholder Participation’ practitioner network on 25 November 2022 at the Regionalverband Mittlerer Oberrhein. The workshop was based on the theme of “But not with me!” Conflict solutions in spatial innovations and large-scale technical facilities: experiences and recommendations from practice”. The event was part of a series of workshops by the region to create a safe space for practitioners to share their experiences, successes, and challenges, with external speakers contributing to guided discussions.

The event began with a welcoming from Mr Jochen Ehlgötz, Managing Director of TechnologieRegion Karlsruhe GmbH. This was followed by a presentation of “Recommendations on communication and dialogue with the public using the example of the geothermal plant at KIT Campus North (GECKO) project)” by Prof. Dr. Eva Schill (Karlsruher Institut für Technologie), which was followed by a thorough round of questions. Next was a presentation by Dr. Michel-André (Team Ewen GbR) on “Dealing with resistance and conflictual situations” which led to some fruitful questions and discussions by the participants.

Overall the workshop was a success, and was attended by 30 participants from the region, and was made possible with the contributions and support of our partners TechnologieRegion Karlsruhe and Fraunhofer ISI, as well as Regionalverband Mittlerer Oberrhein who hosted the event.

Stay tuned for more information about the practitioner network as it continues in 2023.
